Find cat supplies they can't resist.
Having a cat might not seem like a lot of work, but it can be without proper pet supplies. Some cats can be picky eaters, so it’s important to find a cat food they enjoy. Does your cat have specific dietary needs? Try brands like Blue Buffalo, Purina Pro Plan, and Orijen for everything from grain-free kibble to limited ingredient wet food. And don’t forget the treats — your cat may turn down your leftovers, but there’s no way he can say no to treats by Greenies or Temptations.
Cats like to take care of themselves, but one thing they unfortunately can’t take care of is the litterbox. Whether you live in a huge house or a tiny apartment, you’ll want to find a cat litter that can neutralize or eliminate odors, is dust-free, and that, most importantly, works for your cat. And as far as the litterbox itself goes, you want to make sure it’s large enough for your cat to comfortably move around in — though your cat might appreciate one with a cover to give him some privacy.
Want to make sure your feline friend gets the exercise he needs? From feather-covered cat toys to a cat tree tower, there are plenty of ways to keep your cat active that don’t involve him ambushing you every time you turn a corner. Don’t forget to pick up a scratching post, either — it’s a lot easier than replacing your couch. And while your cat may not venture outside much, it’s still a good idea to get him some flea and tick protection, since you never know where pests can be hiding.
