Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in blue ink by 24 members of the 1957 American League Champion New York Yankees, including Mantle (sweet spot), Berra, Slaughter, Ford, Martin, Bauer, Shantz, Collins, Richardson, Carey, McDougald, Siebern, Ditmar, Skowron, Turley, Kucks, Howard, Grim, Larsen, Sturdivant, Johnson, Byrne, and 2 others (illegible). The signature of Jerry Coleman has been deemed a clubhouse example. The year, “1956,” is written on the ball label in blue ink, but it appears to be an erroneous indicator. Ditmar, Johnson, Richardson, and Shantz were not on the Yankees roster in 1956, but all were on the club in 1957. Siebern did not make the team in 1957, so, given the combination of names here, this ball was most likely signed in spring training of 1957. Signatures range from “6” to “8.” The ball is lightly soiled with a few areas of light, scattered age toning. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
