These tales of Ernest and Frederick's enormous experience, illustrated here by Pam Eden, were penned years ago by Joel Biddle for the enchantment and enlightenment of his children. Now you, too, can enjoy their glorious adventure. Frederick is a big, fat city mouse who, unlike most mice, can talk and (he's proud to say) read. Ernest is a cock- roach who prefers to eat marmalade topped with pickles and onions. When they find themselves suddenly homeless in Manhattan they must set out together to see the world, heading for the hinterland aboard a bus. Soon they will encounter a world of little houses and rolling roads in a world where (watch out!) the air smells of snakes. And just wait until they meet the humans... Tales have been told before about animals and people who do extraordinarily brave things but never, ever has there been a story about a city mouse and an apartment cockroach as wonderful as the adventure of Ernest and Frederick.
