Mike Hackney is the author of two books: Learning to Write and Mid-Western Shoes: Your Poetic Self All Over Again as well as five chapbooks of original poetry. He received an BFA in creative writing from Bowling Green State University in 1993 and an MLS in 2006 from the University of Toledo. His work has appeared in Prairie Margins, The Insider, The Bowling Green Daily Sentinel Tribune, and The Cornfed Angel. He has worked as co-administrator, a teacher, and a counselor for the YMCA Schoolas Out Program. In 2003, he received a grant from the Ohio Arts Commission and has been a Scholastic Writing Awards judge for the last four years. He currently lives in Toledo, Ohio.
