During recent SSCs/MOOTWs, the military has worked with various humanitarian assistance (HA) organizations such as NGOs, PVOs, and the UN, as well as others. These organizations are often on site and actively working prior to the military's arrival within the region. As a result, there are many ways that these HA groups and the military can assist or complement the efforts of each other. This study will conduct a literature review to examine U.S. military interaction with HA organizations in northern Iraq, Haiti, and Bosnia. This paper will then explore means of improving this interface, to include possible recommendations.
