Founders in the Spotlight

In honor Pride Month, we’re celebrating entrepreneurs from the LGBTQA+ community. Say hello to Bryan Petroff, Douglas Quint, Bob Macleod, and Steve Byckiewicz, four innovators that the members of our Pride Associate Resource Group think you should meet.

Big Gay Ice Cream

Big Gay Ice Cream

Bryan Petroff & Douglas Quint, Big Gay Ice Cream

Bryan Petroff and Douglas Quint didn’t originally intend to build an ice cream business — they just wanted to do something fun one summer. But their Big Gay Ice Cream truck ended up turning into something much bigger. Since 2009, Big Gay Ice Cream has expanded into three storefronts, a cookbook, and was named one of the top 5 best ice cream parlors in the world by USA Today. And Petroff and Quint continue to churn out an ever-changing array of flavors for down-the-block lines, with whimsical names like The Salty Pimp, Bea Arthur, and Birfdae Cëk.

Kiss My Face

Kiss My Face

Bob Macleod & Steve Byckiewicz, Kiss My Face

Kiss My Face started in 1981 as a passion project between Bob Macleod and Steve Byckiewicz — to bring natural body care to a broader audience. They set the bar high with their first product launch, importing 20 tons of 100% pure olive oil soap directly from Greece, and haven’t looked back since. Today, Kiss My Face sells over 100 natural bath and body products in 19 countries and remains dedicated to its natural promise, sourcing only high-quality, cruelty-free ingredients for everything from sunscreen and shampoo to shaving cream and toothpaste.
